1934 Austin Seven RP Box Saloon
In its time the Austin Seven was widely regarded as the best small car in the world. Manufactured in various guises from 1922 to 1939, it soon became known as the ‘Baby Austin’. The 1934 car we have here had a 4 cyl, 747 cc engine with a syncromesh 4 speed box. Claimed to be able to carry 4 adults in comfort up to 40 stone, the Seven had all of 10.5hp Between 1922 and 1939 290,000 Austin Sevens were made.
Our car here has been the subject of a full restoration, to a very high standard, and in 2015 had a written appraisal by the Pre War Austin Seven Club Ltd confirming this.
ENGINE AND GEARBOX
This car is a very sweet running vehicle with engine and gearbox in excellent condition. Its starts immediately and ticks over like a small sewing machine. All gear select and the Austin drives and handles exactly as it should.
The interior of this car has been very tastefully upgraded with high quality materials used throughout. The seats are trimmed in an attractive hardwearing cloth, and the carpet and interior trims have all been replaced, A nice detail is a suede headlining which adds a touch of quality to the otherwise fairly spartan interior.
This Austin 7 is in excellent condition. Painted in Red and Black the car is finished to a very high standard and is completely rust free. It has a spare wheel mounted at the rear, and all tyres are very good.
Austin was first registered in February 1934 according the original buff logbook with a Carolyn Baines of Diss named as the first owner. Later in life it was shipped to the Netherlands and then returned to UK in 1999. The car was then re-registered in UK and was able to retain its original 1934 registration mark BPD 14. With the car is report from the car club dated 19.12.2015. No much more of the history is known as the last owner has passed away and any other documentation is not available.
This is an opportunity to own a really nice pre-war baby Austin in full working order and roadgoing condition. It is a superb little car for the money, as can be seem in the pictures.
