A Mercedes 230SL Pagoda That Will Make A Ideal Basis For A Rolling Restoration.
We are pleased to be able to offer this 1966 Mercedes 230SL W113 2-seater roadster with hardtop. Often nicknamed the Pagoda, this car is identifiable by its stacked headlights, and slight concave hardtop roof design. The W113 was made between 1963 and 1971, and in all just over 19,000 cars went to USA.
This LHD car which we imported ourselves is a very sound basis for a rolling restoration. The engine starts instantly and the car drives and brakes well, and runs through the gears, both up and down the box. Our car has the 2308cc inline six engine giving out 150bhp, mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The car has had paintwork in the past, and the Signal Red bodywork retains a good quality shine. The underside of the car looks sound, and with a little work could be brought back to a very high standard. Chromework is in quite good condition all round for the age with some discolouration rather than rust. Pagodas in top condition are making in excess of £80k.
The car appears to be complete, even retaining the body colour hub caps on the roadwheels. The interior is in good conditon overall with new seats and carpets fitted recently. We have graded the car as a project because there will be work to do in the future, and to go through the UK MOT if it remains in UK. Because of this there is no warranty given or implied on the car. However we believe we have described the car fairly. But we very strongly recommend that any potential purchaser comes and views the car for themselves. The car is at our Grantham showroom but will in due course be moved to our storage facility near Kings Lynn.
Take this opportunity to get yourself a highly worthwhile project.
