A very competitively priced E-type 4.2 Series II Auto

About:

Celebrated for both its outstanding performance and design, Jaguar’s iconic E-Type sports car, made a lasting statement when it was first unveiled in 1961. Unmatched in its 14-year domination, it continues to be one of the most desirable cars in automobile history. A glamorous symbol, it has long been the feature of many style-conscious films and TV dramas.

At its launch, the E-Type Series 1 set a new standard for speed, with its top reach of 150 mph. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in less than seven seconds, it is no surprise that it was an immediate hit. It’s engineering was second to none, with independent front and rear suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and lots more.

Proclaimed ‘the  most beautiful car ever made’ by Enzo Ferrari when it was launched, the E-Type was first produced as a grand tourer rear-wheel drive two-seater coupe and a two-seater convertible roadster. Upgrades were ongoing and a 2 + 2 four seater version with a longer wheelbase reached the markets a few years later.

However, in 1968 Jaguar launched the sensational Series 2 E-Type, the daring design featured an enlarged mouth, re-positioned front and tail lights, a wrap-around rear bumper and numerous new details and gadgets.

Three years later the Series 3 introduced a new 5.3 L twelve cylinder V12 engine with Zenith carburettors and 272 hp, as well as power-steering and upgraded brakes, performance was at a maximum.

With the final Series 3 reaching the markets in 1975, Jaguar said goodbye to its much-lauded E-Type.
