1973 Manual V12. This Could Be A Show Car With A Bit Of Attention.

About:

This iconic British sports car is famed for its sleek design, speed and exceptional performance. First released in 1961, the legendary E-Type was to ride the wave of Jaguar success for another fourteen years, solidifying its place in motoring history.

A game-changer when it first hit the market, the E-Type raised the bar for the car industry world-wide. Reaching a top speed of 150 mph, its sub-7-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration, independent front and rear suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and much more, ensured that Series 1 was an instant hit.

Based on Jaguar’s 24 Hours of Le Mans’ thrice-winning D-Type, its lightweight chassis weighed 1315 kg, which was remarkable for the time. Enzo Ferrari dubbed it ‘the most beautiful car ever made’. Its exquisite design and distinguished quality means that it still tops the lists for the world’s best cars and is featured in many films to this day.

First presented as a grand tourer rear-wheel drive two-seater coupe and a two-seater convertible roadster, the 2 + 2 four seater version of the coupe came a few years later, featuring a longer wheelbase.

Series 2 and Series 3 followed with continuous changes and upgrades made to the car outside of each Series. The design of the Series 2 in 1968 was markedly different with its enlarged mouth, re-positioned front and tail lights, as well as a wrap-around rear bumper.

Released in 1971, the Series 3 had a new 5.3 L twelve cylinder Jaguar V12 engine, upgraded brakes and power-steering as standard. Equipped with Zenith carburettors, its engine was said to produce 272 hp and could do 0-60 mph in sub 7 seconds. The last Series 3 was produced in 1975.

The car:

With a bit of attention, this rare Jaguar E-Type Series III V12, will be a stunning show car. This gorgeous Jaguar is sound, but could be stunning with careful work and is tax exempt.

History:

Hard to find, this is one of the last manual 1973 Jaguar E-type Series 3 2+2 V12 LHD. Recently imported by ourselves from North America, this 1973 Jaguar is listed as a project car. A sound, genuine car, with careful work it could be brought up to a fantastic example.

Although pictured with XJS wheels in most of the images, these wheels can be replaced with the genuine E-type wheels if required, at no charge.

NOVA registered with all taxes paid, the Jaguar will require MOT and registration before it can be used on UK roads, thus, it will need to be trailered away. Delivery at approximately £1.50 per mile one way is available, if required.

This could be an exceptional E-type, but because of the project status, it doesn’t come with a warranty and we can make no promises.

Engine:

We have had the engine running and driven the car. The engine and box are in good order, the gears all select and the brakes work.

The current mileage is 150,000.

Exterior: Finished in a beautiful Imperial Maroon, the car is supplied with its original chrome wheels and hub caps, which are also extremely rare. The body looks sound with little apparent rust, and the paint finish is good, with a superb deep shine when polished.

Interior: The grey interior is in good condition, with room for improvements to be made over time, if required.

Rowland says: “We think this could be an extremely good E-type, but because of the project status it doesn’t come with any warranty and we can make no promises.”
