A superb example of the Mondial, with 46,400 recorded miles and in very good condition.

About:

Replacing the Ferrari 308/208 GT4 coupe in 1980, the Ferrari Mondial remains one of Ferraris best-selling models. With three further upgrades after the much-desired Mondial 8 (the QV, 3.2 and t), the Mondial was Ferrari’s last V8-engined 2+2 model for over a decade. Available as a coupe or convertible, it would be another fifteen years until Ferrari introduced a new V8 2+2 in the form of the California convertible, in 2008.

Sharing its name with Ferrari’s early 1950s 500 Mondial lightweight sports racer, served a dual purpose. This model was built for speed and everyday use. Practical, it was a long-distance four seater with head and leg-room at the back, long single doors for easy access and good all-round visibility.

Created to tick every box and easy to maintain, the Mondial impressed both inside and out. From the full-width aluminium louvre panels across the front lid and engine cover, to its five-spoke alloy wheels with a lacquered finish, detachable sub-frames, interior fully trimmed in Connolly hide and full-width insulated and trimmed luggage boot, it was designed with Ferrari’s usual style and technicality, as well as the pragmatism needed for regular use.

The V8’s powerful sports touring engine made a lasting impression, with between 71 and 88 bhp/l, a maximum rpm of  7700 for the 3.0 and 3.2l (7500 for the 3.4l), a flexible torque range, fully independent all-round suspension and the unmistakable Ferrari rev.

No surprise then, that Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina’s Mondial, produced for another thirteen years, was one of Ferrari’s biggest hits.

The car:

This fantastic Mondial 8 is in very good condition, with low mileage and great mechanics. An outstanding Ferrari built for everyday use, it is fully road legal with UK registration and MOT, it also comes with full service history and an extendable warranty.

History:

Recently imported by ourselves, this Ferrari was supplied new into North America. At 46,400, the recorded mileage on this stunning car is only 46,400. The Mondial’s stamped service book, confirms the mileage and provides a full service history for the car.

The previous owner informed us that this Mondial 8 won concours awards in 2010 and 2013.

Stored unused for a number of year in suitable dry-storage, its great condition makes this a brilliant purchase. A stand-out sports car that you can use everyday, this Ferrari Mondial is guaranteed to turn heads with every drive.

A testament to its design, this mid-engined, V8-powered grand tourer, is still a genuine long-distance four-seater car, with sufficient rear head and leg-room for children and smaller adults.  Unusually for a mid-engined car, it has surprisingly good all-round visibility.

Engine:

The Mondial 8 has the 3.0 litre V8 engine, producing 214bhp and 179lb ft. The engine is fuel injected and drives through the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Starting is instantaneous, the lovely growl at low revs, turns into an exhilarating howl at the higher end of the rev range. This Ferrari is begging to be driven hard.

The gear selection is in a H-pattern grid on the gear selector and moves precisely through its ratios. In very good condition all round, this Ferrari starts, stops, drives and handles exactly as it should. A must for sports heaven everyday.

The current mileage is 46,400.

Exterior: Finished in metallic grey, with matching Ferrari grey alloy wheels, the unusually understated colour combination has attracted many admiring glances and comments in our showroom. The wheels are shod with the correct Michelin TRX tyres and are in almost new condition.

Interior: A 2+2 Ferrari, the close-fitting sports seats and cabin are finished in red leather, whilst the seating position is a pleasant reminder of Ferrari’s racing heritage. The controls and instruments are in good working order, and the interior is an enjoyable environment to drive in.

Rowland says: “This is a chance to own a Ferrari that can be used everyday! The Mondial is an easy-to-drive supercar. With its low mileage and corresponding condition, we recommend this car. It is offered with MOT, full UK registration and an extendable warranty.”
