The Porsche 928S2 is a car that is rising in value and is a good investment for the future.

THE CAR

Roman Garages are pleased to offer this 1983 Porsche 928S2 Auto with the 300bhp 4.7 litre V8 engine. The car is finished in a stunning Burgundy Metallic and has a genuine Porsche alloy wheel upgrade. This vehicle is HPI clear, and is in lovely condition.  It is a real drivers car with fantastic handling and roadholding, and a beefy V8 to suit, with its own soundtrack!

ENGINE AND GEARBOX

The engine has been treated to a complete overhaul by an engineer which included the all important cambelt change, new tensioners and new rollers. Both cylinder heads were skimmed, and main and big end bearings, piston ring sets, water pump and new gaskets were installed. In addition the car was treated to 8 new injectors. The previous owner advises this was done approximately 2000 miles ago. There is documentation for all the engine parts used. The engine bursts into life, hot or cold, and pulls strongly right to the red line, with the automatic gearbox moving through the ratios exactly as it should.

THE INTERIOR

The seats in this Porsche 928 have been upgraded to the 928 GTS versions at a cost of almost £1500. These are finished in a pale grey, and are in good, undamaged condition. A new red carpet set has been fitted, and the combination of colours enhances the general airiness and comfort of the cabin.

THE EXTERIOR

Many body panels of the 928 are fibreglass and thus are not prone to rusting as with many cars of its age. The general paint and body condition is very good, and the Porsche alloy wheels give the car an aggressive stance to complement the growl of the V8. The roadholding and handling are excellent. and are more than adequate to cope with the 300 bhp on tap. Invoices show a set of front and rear discs were fitted, and the brakes are very progressive and powerful.

HISTORY

The car was supplied new to the Chairman of Lex Vehicle Leasing in August 1983 who owned the car until October 1988, and during his ownership he had the V5 changed into his own name instead of the company name. A Mr S Burcham purchased the car with 64,000 miles on it and the 2 owners. Apparently the service history for the car was complete at that point, with AFN and then Heedell & Deeks of Bournemouth carrying out the service work. Mr Burcham actually then registered the Porsche in his mothers name for insurance purposes, although this added her as another keeper.

In May 1990 the car was shipped to South Africa where it stayed until June 1995, and on its return was registered again to Miss P. Bull, the partner of Mr Burcham. The car was finally sold in 1998. The last owner was a local engineer from Grantham who owned the car from 2011 to 2017. Whilst the service book has been misplaced, the invoices show a large number of service parts and replacements parts have been fitted.

CONCLUSION

The prices of the Porsche 928 are now rising, and at present this car represents very good value for money. It is an out and out drivers car with magnificent performance, and handling, roadholding and braking to suit. The car is priced to sell, and we will consider ant part-exchange.
