As taken in part-exchange. A fantastic value Merc Roadster
Roman Garages are pleased to offer for a trade sale this sound and genuine 1985 Mercedes Benz 280SL roadster. This shape is often referred to as W107 or R107, and is the successor to the much higher priced Pagoda. We believe prices are rising on the R107 and even topping £20,000 in some classic car auctions.
This is a car we took in part-exchange and are selling as a trade sale. It has an MOT through to May 2019 and has 25 stamps in the Mercedes Service Booklet. Most services have been carried out by Mercedes main dealer or specialist.
The car drives very well and looks good inside and out. It has a Zender bodykit and is finished in Diamond Blue with a dark blue soft top. It starts, runs and stops exactly how it should. Mechanically the 6-cylinder engines are bulletproof, and in spite of its mileage 157k there is many years of life left. It would benefit from the valve clearances being adjusted as there is some tappet noise, which is quite common with these engines.
The autobox is willing, in upshift, downshift and on kickdown. The car feels quite brisk and is smooth and economical on fuel.
The blue leather and cloth seats and interior have aged well, with very few signs of wear. The soft top looks quite recent so is in excellent condition. This 280SL has a set of attractive Mercedes alloy wheels and good tyres.
It is not perfect but the price has been set to allow for some non-urgent cosmetics. At £7995 it is probably £7000 below normal forecourt price. We recommend a visit and test drive. We may consider a px with cash our way.
