1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible
Replacing Jaguar’s best-selling E-Type, the luxe Jaguar XJS was released in 1975. More aerodynamic than its predecessor, the XJS grand tourer was based on Jaguar’s flagship XJ saloon.
Selling 115, 413 in its lifetime, its coveted Jaguar V12 engine enabled it to reach 60mph in 7.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 143 mph. Featuring a BorgWarner Model 12 transmission with a cast-iron case and a bolt-on bell housing, it also came with Dunlop SP Super E205/70VR15 tyres on 6K alloy wheels. GM Turbo- Hydramatic 400 transmissions were fitted in 1977, an all-aluminium alloy case with an integrated non-detachable bell-housing.
With increased power from its High-Efficiency 295 hp engine, the XJS was officially known as the XJS-HE from 1981. There were also changes to the exterior and interior including five-spoke alloy wheels, a body-coloured trunk plinth and chrome inserts on the bumper. A triumphant upgrade, resulting in a double victory at Silverstone in the same year.
1983 saw a 3.6 litre Jaguar AJ6 straight-six (16) engine and the introduction of a cabriolet. In 1991 Jaguar released its final version with a new 4.0 litre engine. Further upgrades to the engine followed in 1994. In 1996, its run came to an end with the introduction of the XK8.
This increasingly hard to find, beautiful Jaguar XJS convertible, is rapidly appreciating in value. In great condition for its age, both inside and out, it is a brilliant, fast drive that you will enjoy. At the advertised price we will supply a new soft top, as the present one has small tears in a couple of places.
This gorgeous XJS convertible is in good condition, for a car of its age and mileage. The Jaguar also comes compete with a brand new MOT.
With its 5.3 V12 engine which develops to almost 300 bhp, it is fast and enjoyable to drive. On the road, it handles and holds like a grand tourer. It is in good mechanical order for its age and mileage. A great car that drives as a Jag of its age should.
The current mileage is 72700
Exterior: Finished in elegant green – similar to a deep British Racing Green, it features a fetching electrically operated black soft top and chrome fittings.
Interior: Inside, the tasteful black interior includes many electrical features including electric mirrors, windows and a sunroof.
Rowland says: “This is a great chance to pick up a Jag that is becoming increasingly rare. In great condition this Jaguar XJS convertible is becoming harder and harder to find. A great car for a fun, fast drive”
